Continuing to talk about Miracles of God in the New Testament and that miracles are for today

We learned that Jesus was not the only one doing miracles in the New Testament

The apostles did miracles on behalf of God; Acts Chapter 3

Note that Peter was quick to point out that although the miracle was done by his hands, he says that it was not because he was special but it was by the Name of Jesus and Faith in that Name (Acts 3: 11-16)

11 Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed. 12 So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. 14 But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and killed the [b]Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. 16 And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

The opposite of having faith is ‘unbelief

We learned from Scripture that the Miracles of God are not just performed when God feels like doing them

God grace provides for us all that a loving Father wants for us, but we must possess that provision by Faith

Let’s see if this holds true with other promises from God;

This is how salvation works

What is God’s will about men being saved?

I Timothy 2:3-4 NKJV

[3] For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, [4] who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Question: are all men saved even though that is God’s provision?

How does a man get saved? He must possess it!

Romans 10:9-11, 14 NKJV

[9] that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [11] For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

[14] How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

Faith/ believe/trust

The Just shall live by faith; Gal 3:11 11 But that no one is [d]justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Where does faith reside?

In the heart; Proverbs 4:20-23;

20 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.

21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart;

22 For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.

23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

Mark 11:22-24

22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

The Spirit of faith is the Spirit of Victory

Jesus walked His earthly ministry in Faith

One might say, I am not sure about this faith business…….

Well the bible says that we walk by faith and we cannot get ‘saved’ without faith

Miracles are up to us, not up to God!

Miracles are a process: Person has a need………………find out what the Word of God (our manual) says about it………………..speak God’s Word over the person that needs the help; by FAITH (believing in the Name of Jesus and Faith in that Name) and expect RESULTS

Remember, He has given us the Great Commission (Lay hands on the sick and they will recover)

The Great Commission

Mark 16:14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who [d]believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they[e] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Bible Study — September 10, 2026: Some of the Basics of Faith

(Based on a teaching by Rev Keith Moore; Faith School)

In past studies, we have seen that the miracles in the New Testament were done by many people, not only Jesus

We have also proven by the Word that Miracles are not just something that God does when he feels like it; the Miracles done in the 4 Gospels and the Book of Acts were done where the ‘force of faith’ was invoked; Why? So that people can be helped and set free of no

let’s further delve into what Faith actually is…..

Teaching was viewed off of you tube video by Rev Keith Moore and main points below:

  1. Romans 1:17: ‘the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith

    • God does everything by Faith

    • The Just shall live by Faith (that’s us)

  2. God walks by Faith and He expects us to also do so; Gal 3:11

God, Himself walks by Faith; Genesis 1… repeatedly it states that ‘God said’; also Hebrews ch 11 it states how God formed the Worlds Hebrews 11:1-3

  3. God gives to us by GRACE (ie eternal life; Romans 3:24); we must possess by Faith Romans 10:9-10

  4. God cannot do 2 things:

    1. He can’t do something, He has already done; Salvation is already accomplished thru the Cross of Jesus Christ; ‘Lord, Please save uncle Ernie’; God has already provided Grace thru Salvation

    2. God cannot do something He told us to do; Romans 10:9-10; we must receive Christ by Faith

  5. It is God’s will to save us; to heal us; to prosper us

Bible Study — September 17, 2026: The Name of Jesus

Quickly Review:

  • Miracles in the bible came at the hands of many different people in the Old Testament and New Testament

  • We learned that these Miracles are not necessarily at God’s choosing

  • Jesus left the earth, but He wanted us to carry on His ministry on the earth; what was His ministry? (not just dieing on the Cross for our sins)

  • This is why God wants to do Miracles is to help people (get healed/ get free from tormenting thinking in their mind/ to become successful and prosperous)

Matthew 10:7-8 NKJV

[7] And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ [8] Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

  • Jesus has authorized us to do His work on the earth, from this, Miracles happen!

  • We have learned that actually we are commissioned by the Lord Jesus in Mark 16:17-20 to do signs (Miracles) just like Jesus…….

  • We then see in the book of Acts that when Jesus left the earth, that the Disciples were doing many signs & wonders IN THE NAME OF JESUS

Acts 3:6-7, 11-12, 16 NKJV

[6] Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” [7] And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

[11] Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed. [12] So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?

[16] And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

  • We are going to study the Name of Jesus (and Faith in that Name)

  • God has given us Authority to act in His Name

  • Authorized: defn: warranted by right, supported by authority; derived from legal or proper authority, having power and authority; another common word that might help is ‘deputized’

  • Even the pharisees wanted to know about it

Matthew 21:23 NKJV

[23] Now when He came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people confronted Him as He was teaching, and said, “By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority?”

  • First need to understand what it means to do something in the Name of Something or Someone else

  • Example: Ambassador of the US goes to a hostile country and lays down the law to that those representatives of that country; better stop or else; does the ambassador himself have any authority on his own to say that?

Defn of ambassador: an official representative sent by a sovereign ruler or state to speak, negotiate and act on their behalf in a foreign land

  • Power of Attorney;

  • My father in law, Pappau

  • Jesus has given us the power of attorney

John 16:23 NKJV

[23] “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.

So Jesus invites us to use His Name when we pray for Miracles/supplications; that is why you end a prayer….. “in Jesus Name”

And how powerful is the Name of Jesus?

Philippians 2:7-10 NKJV

[7] but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. [8] And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. [9] Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, [10] that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

…….”Jesus Name carries ultimate rank in heaven and on earth”

Mark 16:15-18 NKJV

[15] And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. [17] And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; [18] they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Let’s listen to about 10 minutes of a teaching on the ‘Name of Jesus:

Bible Study — September 24, 2026: The Different Ways that Miracles Come About

Miracles are not just up to God; it is a Partnership Between God and man; God supplies the power but we must BELIEVE

Jesus left the Earth, but His ministry is still active today; “in the Name’

We are going to take a look at a teaching on Miracles by George Pearsons:

Key Points and notes on what he will be teaching:

  • I Corinthians 12:1-11

    • 9 gifts of the Spirit

    • Gifts of Healing/ Working of Miracles; ‘ As the Spirit wills’ will be talked about

  • Healing revival was in the 50’s and 60’s in this country

    • Oral Roberts tent meetings

    • Katharine Kuhlman

  • The Books of Acts IS the pattern for the Church and NOT the history of the Church

    • Miracles are supposed to be happening at our hands in the Name of Jesus!

  • People can be healed by the Gifts of the Spirit or by us using our faith (more to be discussed on faith next week)

  • Jesus healed people as a man:

    • Acts 10:38 NKJV

    • [38] how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

  • Then, WE are commissioned to do the same thing; We are commissioned by Jesus:

    • Mark 16:15-18 NKJV

    • [15] And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

Bible Study — October 1, 2026: We Walk by Faith

In past studies, we have seen that the miracles in the New Testament were done by many people, not only Jesus

We have also proven by the Word that Miracles are not just something that God does when he feels like it; the Miracles done in the 4 Gospels and the Book of Acts were done where the ‘force of faith’ was invoked; Why? So that people can be helped and set free of bondages in this life;

let’s further delve into what Faith actually is…..

But first, we also need to look at a couple of our foundations (4 out of the 11):

  • We must understand the dynamics in the God-man relationship; the way it works is that God & man come into partnership where God provides and man’s job is to believe, receive and possess what God has provided

  • The Bible is a manual, we should run to it for answers whenever we need them

  • God moves and responds to FAITH, (Trusting in God as to what He said He would do in the Bible and then acting upon it)

  • Man is comprised of 3 parts: body, soul, spirit and we must understand the differences

Where does Faith reside? Mark 11: 23-24 & Romans 10:9-10

Let’s listen to a Teaching by Rev Keith Moore where he talks in more depth on the subject of Faith; key summaries:

  1. Romans 1:17

    • We grow from faith to faith; how do we grow in it? read the Word; meditate on the Word, anointed teaching at church or listening to a teaching; and doing the Word: James 1:23

    • The just shall live by faith; Gal 3:11

  2. Faith is of the spirit not the mind: Proverbs 3:5-6

    • Faith is a force, faith is a choice

    • The more you read the Word, the more faith will grow in your spirit

  3. Faith is a Spiritual force; Mark 11:22-24; it involves speaking and believing; our soul (mind) must be renewed

  4. Faith is how God Functions Himself; Genesis 1…. “and God said”; & Hebrews 11:1-3

  5. The Just shall live by faith; Galatians 3:11

    • We have a part to play in faith working for us: God provides the grace, we must supply the faith

Bible Study — October 8, 2026: THE WORDS THAT WE SPEAK ARE LIFE OR DEATH

Why are words important?

  • In day to day life: Without Words you cannot communicate (whether oral or written)

  • In your Spiritual life with God: First of all, the Bible is full of God’s Words! (Logos: entire breadth of the bibe; and Rhema, that specific Word of God that speaks to us; Words that we speak are spiritual containers

Pvbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who eat it will eat its fruit

Gossip and backbiting and talebearing are talked about much more in the bible than drinking and other types of behavior; why? Because they involve Words

Matthew 12: 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

When do we use our words in this dramatic manner?

1. To receive salvation: Romans 10:9-10

2. “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. ”

Without Words, Faith cannot come

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Romans 10:17 NKJV

Words of faith and Words of fear; both when acted upon will bring completely different outcomes to the individual.

Faith in God’s Words that we say will bring that specific desired outcome (this is when God moves)

Words spoken in fear bring the undesired outcome that you are believing for (this when the devil moves)

3. James 3

3 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. 2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a [a]perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. 3 [b]Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.

See how great a forest a little fire kindles! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of [c]iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of [d]nature; and it is set on fire by [e]hell. 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the [f]similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? 12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? [g]Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.

“When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”” ; that defilement will eventually get into our heart

Matthew 15:10-11 NKJV

Satan is the god of this world (IICor 4:4) and he understands a few things about spiritual laws…..

Negative influences involving Words

  • Video Games

  • Social media

  • Music

  • The News/ online stories

  • Politics

  • College Institutions

The Bible are positive Words:

4. Matt 4:4 “But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ””

5. Ps 107:20 “He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.”

Conclusion: we need to watch our mouth

Bible Study — October 15, 2026: Our Authority as a Believer

Summarizing where we have been going these past few weeks by the Spirit

  • We looked at Miracles in the bible

  • Reviewed the questions: what are miracles? and who performs them?

  • According to the bible, that we learned that we can perform miracles according to God’s Word in ‘Jesus Name’ (Mark 16:15-20)

  • We discussed how Faith is the operating system God uses to connect with us

  • Our words can be Life (faith) or death (fear) to us; Words (God’s Words) must be used and by speaking and believing in one’s heart (the spirit of man)

Now, the Lord is taking us into Our Authority as a believer

  • Religion (not true bible Christianity) teaches us to just sit back and do nothing:

    • II Timothy3:5 Having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such turn away……………(7) always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth

Excerpts taken from the book by Kenneth Copeland “Speak the Word: Walking in the Authority of the Believer”

  • Phrases like: ‘God is in control’ is a mis-guided phrase

  • The Bible is a book of choices because God has given man a free will

  • ‘God is soveriegn’, another phrase that is taken out of context:

    • From the 1828 Webster’s Dictionary: “supreme in power’; superior to all others; nowhere in that defn does it say that God is controlling everything

  • God had given man-kind authority on this earth and it started in Genesis 1:26-28

    • 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the [g]earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living [h]thing that moves on the earth.”

      • Defn of dominion: (rada); to rule, have dominion, dominate

      • Defn of subdue: (kabas); force, bring into subjection

      • Confirming this concept in Psalms 8

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
4 What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You [c]visit him?
5 For You have made him a little lower than the [d]angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
7 All sheep and oxen—
Even the beasts of the field,
8 The birds of the air,
And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas

  • Defn: Elohim or God

  • What happened in the garden was no small event

    • satan got this authority from man when he tricked the man into disobeying Almighty God in the garden ( and eating from the tree of good and evil)

      • that is why satan is now called the god of this world (II Cor 4:4)

  • Jesus got back our dominion

    • Mark 16:15-18

  • We have authority as a believer

  • Why has God given us this Authority? So we can live victorious lives!

    • First of all, we use this authority over ourselves and our families

      • Dominion over sickness

      • Dominion over Poverty

      • Dominion over the devil when he rears his ugly head

      • Protection (Psalm 91)

    • Secondly, we exercise our authority over a dying world:

      • Matthew 28:18-20

  • Power of Attorney;
